Imogen Brown, a 20-year old Type 1 Diabetic was an active member of BYDG since her diagnosis in 2007 until she went to the adult clinic. She is emabrking on an exciting and challenging trip in aid of JDRF.
Alongside 19 other type 1's, she's attempting the World Record to have the greatest number of type 1's to summit Kilimanjaro in June this year. Of this group she is the youngest participant. The aim of this trip is to raise awareness about type 1 diabetes as well as show that people with type 1 diabetes can do anything they put their minds to. This will be a huge undertaking, not only because of the difficulty of the challenge but ever more complicated because of managing our blood sugars. To put this into perspective, recent training weekends have shown that this level of exercise requires her to have 90% less insulin than normal.
