Urgent Information about the Group - July 2022

7/4/2022

Dear friends of Hampshire Paediatric Diabetes Group,
We want to update you regarding two opportunities to support the group and a fundraising objective.
After many years of service to the group, the Chairman and Treasurer have decided to step down from their roles.  There are now opportunities for two new people to bring in fresh ideas for fun, engaging and informative events.  No previous experience of being a trustee is required – just enthusiasm and ideas!
This year the group celebrated our 50th Birthday and we are asking for people to step forward and continue providing services to our community.  If you feel strongly about giving positive experiences to young people with diabetes and their families, please message us on the group Facebook page (www.facebook.com/BYDiabeticsG), email [email protected], or speak to Chris Wilgar (or one of the other DSNs), for an open conversation to find out more about the roles.
The fundraising objective relates to next year’s annual residential event at Fairthorne Manor.  Every year we provide 24 subsidised places and always get great feedback from the young people who attend.  The group subsidises this event with around £4,000 each year.  We already have over half the amount needed for 2023 but we need to raise a minimum of £1,500 by February to provide the same number of places as we have previously.  So, if you’re able to donate, raise money through sponsorship of an active event or other creative ideas, we would really value your support.  Please message us with your ideas on the group Facebook page or email [email protected].
We look forward to hearing your brilliant fundraising ideas and speaking to those interested in becoming trustees of the group.
Best wishes, the HPDG Trustees.
* = HDPG is the local group for “Diabetes UK”, meaning that we are governed by charity rules.  For our group to continue operating and providing services, there must be a minimum of 3 trustees (a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary).

Diabetes UK survey to help get better access to diabetes tech

2/18/2020

Diabetes technology can greatly improve people’s health and quality of life but too many people still don’t have access to the tech they need.
While in some areas of the UK just 5% of people with type 1 diabetes can access some tech, in others it can be over 70%.
People with diabetes – and often healthcare professionals too – have told Diabetes UK that they want better access to diabetes tech and now they want to hear about your experience. Whether it’s been positive or negative. Whether you’ve fought for access or never cared about it. Whether it’s about you or someone you care for.
Please fill in this survey and tell them https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/dteche/
With your help, all that needs to change can be mapped out to ensure everyone who could benefit from diabetes tech can access it.
Thank you for your support.
